F Around and Find Out: New Orleans Guide to Fall 2023

Start to pack your summer things away and bring out the autumn gear, it is officially FALL!

The “cooler” weather (anything below 90 is cooler to us here at Rathbone Mansions) is not to be taken for granted. Crescent City knows to come through with events and festivities to celebrate the break from the heat, and we get started right away with the good stuff. Book a room here at Rathbone Mansions for a quick and fun getaway, spend the day or night out on the town, and then return to soak in the hot tub before you head out and do it all over again!

FOOTBALL

Oh when the Saints come marching in!

Football Season here in New Orleans has already kicked off, and the Saints home games draw a big crowd. Make sure to snag some tickets to see a home game at Caesars Superdome. Come through with your black and gold colors on, and sport a traditional fleur de lis chain, hat, or painted on your skin. And always come early or stay late in town for a pop up second line band to start jamming through the city. If you want to really want to party, make sure to book a room here at Rathbone Mansions for Bayou Classic on November 25. The city is really something to experience at that time for football fans!

FESTIVALS

Cooler weather is celebrated here in Crescent City from the moment it reaches 89 degrees, and we cannot wait to start attending all the festivals. The autumn months are packed: check out these for October:

NOLAxNOLA-9/29-10/8- Venues all over the city will be hosting various live musical acts, from local to international and serving up all genres.

Oktoberfest-All October Long- Bars, restaurants, and lounges will be turnin’ German for Oktoberfest festivities. Live music, costumes, history, and of course, das boots of beer. And don’t skip out on a big ole pretzel with some beer cheese, be careful though-you might have to loosen your lederhosen.

NOLA Funk Fest-10/20-22- Over at the New Orleans Jazz Museum will be a very groovy event. NOLA Funk Fest brings out wonderful local musicians for a funky filled weekend. Come ready to dance, eat some local food, and support local craft artists as well.  There will also be a special announcement and debut of the Louisiana Music & Heritage Experience, a new museum highlighting the history and culture of music in the state.

Tremé Fall Fest-10/21-22- A special event for us here at Rathbone Mansions to highlight is definitely our neighborhood event! The Tremé Fall Fest is a traditional and culturally motivated free event that shines a bright light on the historic neighborhood. Food, music, art all made by locals, and the best second line you’ll ever join in on!

FOOD

Whether it is fine dining or food trucking, the eats can’t be beat here in Nawlins. All fall long you’ll find something to munch on. Craving some chicken and want variety? There’s the Fried Chicken Fest 9/30-10/1-gathering vendors from all over the city, this fest also features live music while you chow (and judge) down. Searching for something saucier? How about the Blues & BBQ Fest 10/15-17, serving up local BBQ vendors and live music in the heart of Nola. Want to eat and judge your heart out? Then get tickets for Top Taco 10/26, a taco competition of 50+ vendors where you get to judge over several categories. Make sure to book a room here at Rathbone Mansions for the oncoming food coma.
